Simon Cowell ‘freaked out by ghost of Roman emperor’s gay lover haunting his new mansion’

X Factor boss has spoken previously about his belief in ghosts

Simon Cowell may have got more than he bargained for when it comes to his new £15 million mansion.

The West London pad, which he bought back in October, is apparently haunted by the ‘gay lover of a Roman Emperor.’

The 59-year-old X Factor boss is reportedly a big believer in ghosts – and the former owner of the mansion claims it is very haunted indeed.

Previous owner Christian Levett told The Sun he believes he accidentally bought a ghost into the house when a statue of an Ancient Greek – the lover of Roman emperor Hadrian, no less – was delivered to his home in 2014.

Simon is reportedly living in his new London home with his wife Lauren and son Eric (Instagram)

He recalled: “It was delivered in a crate. When I was locking up, I heard the sound of heavy objects being knocked over from the drawing room where Antinous was still lying in his box. The same happened the next two nights. But there was nobody there.”

The statue has since been donated to a museum, but hedge fund billionaire Christian believes the spirit lives on in the sprawling London gaff.

And this tale has reportedly “freaked out” new owner Simon.

A source told the paper: “Simon believes in spirits so he’s been freaked out by this story. I don’t think he was aware when he moved in. He might have to call a ghostbuster.”

A former neighbour of Christian’s also corroborated the tale.

They said: “I know when Christian lived there the family heard unexplained noises. There’d be a bump from a bedroom then the next night a noise from downstairs.”

Simon has spoken about his beliefs in ghosts before.

In 2015 he told The Guardian: “I did have a ghost in my house once and I do think it was a friendly ghost. I was living in a house and the bedroom door was open and every night you would hear ‘knock-knock’.

“I was thinking, ‘There has to be a reason’, but there wasn’t, so I am convinced it was a ghost.”
