The Royal Family sent messages to the Princess Royal to mark the special milestone.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared two photos of them together with Princess Anne.

The post reads: “Wishing a very happy 70th birthday to Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal!”
Fans loved the post, with one writing: “Beautiful photos, happy 70th birthday to the Princess Royal.”
Another wrote: “Beautiful inside and out. Happy birthday Princess Anne!”
A third added: “Happy Birthday to a very hard working, humble Royal.”
Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace has released new photos of Princess Anne for the occasion.
The images, taken before lockdown hit earlier this year, show Anne smiling for the camera.

The photos were shot earlier this year in February by photographer John Swannell at Gatcombe Park.
In one of the new photographs, the Queen‘s only daughter is posing in a long white dress and beaming for the camera.
In another, she is looking more somber as she looks directly into the camera in a smart green suit.
The Royal Family Instagram page wrote: “New photographs have been released to celebrate the 70th birthday of Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal tomorrow, 15th August.
“The photographs were taken by John Swannell at The Princess’ home, Gatcombe Park, in February this year.”
Princess Anne celebrates her 70th birthday
In another post, they said: “Thank you for all the warm wishes on The Princess Royal’s 70th birthday today!
“This new photograph, released to mark HRH’s birthday, was taken by John Swannell at Gatcombe Park.”
Princess Anne has been awarded army and RAF promotions for her birthday.
She is now a general in the British Army and an air chief marshal in the Royal Air Force.
