The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have shared a sweet message to Prince Philip to mark his 98th birthday.

The Duke of Edinburgh turned 98 on June 10 and members of the royal family have all celebrated the incredible milestone.

The royal couple’s official Instagram account shared one photo which showed Philip and grandson Harry sharing a laugh at the New Zealand vs Australia rugby World Cup in 2015.

Meanwhile, the royal family’s official Twitter page wished Philip a happy birthday today.

The post read: “Wishing His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh a very Happy 98th Birthday today! #HappyBirthdayHRH.

“The Duke of Edinburgh was born on this day in 1921.”

Prince Philip retired from royal engagements in August 2017.

Earlier this year, he was involved in a road collision in Norfolk on January 17 when the Land Rover Freelander that he was driving collided with another vehicle after bright sunlight made it difficult for him to see the other car.

The prince had written a letter of apology to Emma Fairweather, a passenger in the other vehicle.

The royal – who has been married to Queen Elizabeth II since 1947 – wrote: “I would like you to know how very sorry I am for my part in the accident at the Babingley cross-roads.”

“It was a bright sunny day and about three in the afternoon, the sun was low over the Wash. In other words, the sun was shining low over the main road.

“In normal conditions I would have no difficulty in seeing traffic coming from the Dersingham direction, but I can only imagine that I failed to see the car coming, and I am very contrite about the consequences.”
