Royal fans urge Tatler to ‘respect Meghan’s privacy’ as it puts her on the cover of December issue

It comes after ITV's royal documentary…

| Updated:

The Duchess of Sussex has appeared on the cover of Tatler magazine.

Calling the upcoming December edition of the title “the Meghan issue”, the cover line reads: “Does she divide or conquer?”

The magazine used an old photo of the duchess taken during a photoshoot in 2015.

However, the Daily Mail states that the title has apparently “Photoshopped out” the chunky gold earrings the duchess was wearing in the original image.

In an Instagram post, the magazine revealed that it has carried out an exclusive poll to find out the country’s real opinion when it comes to Meghan.

Tatler said: “Who better to appear on the cover of the special 310th anniversary issue than HRH The Duchess of Sussex, the most talked about woman of the day.”

It added: “Tatler conducted an exclusive nationwide poll on the country’s opinions on Meghan and four writers share their differing takes on the duchess.”

It’s out on October 31.

Richard Dennen, Tatler’s editor in chief, said: “I think the duchess is fabulous. I love that she is independent and not afraid of doing things her own way.”

He added: “I like her fashion choices and the way she is bringing a breath of California cool to the drab and dusty corridors of the old guard.”

Please Tatler respect the duchess’s privacy!!! She exists, she is suffering! And you are posting her on the cover! Did you first ask her is she okay?

However, royal fans aren’t impressed with the publication’s choice of cover star, with some calling on the title to “resect her privacy”.

One commented: “Tatler placed her on the cover after calling her social climber of the year because having her on the cover will sell more magazines than anyone else. Also this is an old photo of Meghan from before she was royal, so for those of you talking about privacy – no, she didn’t pose for this cover and I’m sure that there was no agreement between them.”

A third said: “Please Tatler respect the duchess’s privacy!!! She exists, she is suffering! And you are posting her on the cover! Did you first ask her is she okay?”

Another added: “Poor woman, you’re tearing her up. But you seem to forget we’re humans made of flesh and bones, we’re not that elastic and can’t bear that much pressure. Let her live, she’s gracious, she’s kind, she’s in love with her husband. What more do you want?”

Last weekend, Meghan opened up in her ITV documentary, revealing that not many people had asked if she was okay.
