Paul Crowther, the man who threw a milkshake over Nigel Farage, has been spared a custodial sentence and will instead pay a fine.
Mr Crowther threw the banana and salted caramel milkshake over the Brexit Party leader on May 20, shortly after Mr Farage had given a speech in Newcastle ahead of the European elections.
The attack was described by the court as being “politically motivated”, and Mr Crowther told journalists he did it as “a right of protest against people like him”.

He also said of Farage: “The bile and the racism he spouts out in this country is far more damaging than a bit of milkshake to his front.”
The 32-year-old defendent pleaded guilty to common assault and criminal damage at North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.
The criminal damage was in relation to a £239 lapel microphone that Farage was wearing when the milkshake was thrown.
After admitting the charges, Mr Crowther was given 150 hours of community service and ordered to pay £350 compensation.
His defence solicitor, Brian Hegarty, told how Mr Crowther threw the drink in a “moment of madness” and he now fully regretted his actions.
The judge told Mr Crowther: “This was an act of crass stupidity.”
Mr Crowther lost his job as a technical adviser at Sky, and threats have reportedly been made to a dog charity where he volunteered.

He is also said to have suffered repeated threats of violence and had regular police checks to his address.
A GoFundMe page was set up called: “Get Paul Crowther his milkshake money back” and was closed when it reached £1,705.
