Louise Redknapp blames ‘trauma of divorce’ for running red light

Despite claiming she was going through a painful divorce, the court still hit Louise with a hefty fine

Louise Redknapp has said it was the “personal trauma” of going through a divorce that led her to run through a red light last year in Wandsworth, South London.

The 44-year-old pop star was hit with an £800 and three points on her licence.

Lousie, a mum of two, has apologised for running the light in her Land-Rover in 2018. When asked if there were any mitigating circumstances, Louise’s legal representative said:

“At the time of November 2018, she was going through the personal trauma of a divorce which was made that much harder by attention from the media.”

Louise split from her long-term husband, ex-footballer and TV pundit Jamie Redknapp, in 2017 after 18 years of marriage.

During the break-up, the couple were affected by rumours concerning Louise’s close relationship with Strictly co-star Kevin Clifton.

Despite the fine and penalty points, Loiuse appeared in a positive mood both before and after the court hearing. Earlier on in the day, the former Eternal star tweeted about her recent appearance on Paul Mckenna’s Positivity Podcasts. And a few hours after the hearing, Loiuse updated social media followers with a picture of herself chilling in the sunshine. The caption read: ‘Gym and Snooze.’

She also reminded fans about her forthcoming album release, titled ‘Heavy Love.’ She’ll also be appearing on Chart Show TV for a chat about the album, including what inspired her return to the pop world.

Louise was part of 90s trio Eternal, who achieved massive chart success with hits like ‘Crazy,’ ‘Stay,’ and ‘Power of a Woman.’ After the band went their separate ways. Louise embarked on a brief but successful solo career, which included the top ten single ‘Naked.’

She then took an extended break from the limelight to raise her two sons, Charlie and Beau.

Drivers that run a redlight usually receive three points on their licence and a fine of £100. However, if they fail to respond or provide further details when asked, they can receive double the penalty points and a much larger fine of a £1,000.
