Gogglebox’s June Bernicoff admits she doesn’t watch TV following death of husband Leon

Gogglebox’s June Bernicoff  has admitted she finds it difficult to watch TV without her late husband Leon.

Fans of the Channel 4 show were heartbroken when Leon, 83, passed away in December 2017 following a short illness.

Now, June has said she hasn’t been able to relax in front of a TV –  as she did on the programme – since Leon passed away.

Speaking to The Sun, June said: “I don’t watch much TV these days, if I’m honest. I find it difficult.

“I’ve been reading a lot more, or listening to the radio, but I just feel restless whenever I sit down to watch it. I find myself getting up to make a lot of cups of tea and I can’t settle.”

Last September, June spoke about a book she’s written about their time together during an appearance on This Morning.

She said at the time: “It’s given me a purpose to set aside parts of the day to write. I think at first it was just the sadness because I just started remembering the last few days he was really ill.

“But then going back and remembering the fun we had… I can’t remember life without him, not really.”

In December last year, June thanked fans for their tributes on the first anniversary of Leon’s death.

“Thank you to all you lovely people who sent messages today, remembering Leon. It is so comforting to know how much he was loved. Thank you!” the 81-year-old wrote on Twitter.

After reading through more messages, June posted a second tweet.

She wrote: “I’ve been reading more of your lovely tweets! Thank you and Merry Christmas to you all and thank you so very much for your kindness!”

After Leon’s death, June chose not to return to Gogglebox without him.

Leon developed pneumonia and sepsis from a short illness just before Christmas 2017, and passed away after 10 days in hospital.
