Gogglebox viewers were left upset and baffled when two fan favourites were not featured on Friday’s episode (April 19).
The beloved and delightfully eccentric married couple Giles and Mary were noticeably absent from the Channel 4 show – and let’s just say viewers noticed.
Many took to Twitter to voice their disappointment and concern over the ‘Nutty’ (their pet names for one another) couple’s absence.
One wrote that they were ‘fumin’:

A second asked “where the hell” they were and a third dismayed viewer complained that the show “wasn’t the same” without them.

A fourth user expressed their general disappointment.

But Gogglebox viewers mustn’t fret too much, as it turns out the couple are simply taking a break from the hit show while they enjoy their spring holidays.

A concerned viewer tweeted one of Gogglebox’s co-creators, Tania Alexander, who reassured them that Giles and Mary will be back on next week’s episode.

Mary and Giles are from Wiltshire and have quickly become firm fan favourites.
They’re known for their dry wit and sarcasm and rather posh accents.
And they’re delightfully old school. Giles confesses to not owning a mobile phone and they live in a home with no central heating.
Giles has even said he uses bubble wrap as a makeshift double glazing during the winter months.
Gogglebox returns to Channel 4 Friday at 9pm.
