Reality star Ferne McCann has claimed she was the victim of “serious abuse and intimidation” backstage at the NTAs.

The former TOWIE star was reportedly involved in an altercation with Love Island’s Adam Collard and Zara McDermott earlier this week which is being investigated by police.

Taking to Twitter yesterday evening, Ferne posted a statement claiming she’s “not proud” of her actions but that she was severely provoked.

“To be clear I have never thrown a glass at anyone,” she tweeted. “I am not proud of reacting the way I did to the serious abuse and intimidation I was subjected to and I should not have thrown a drink.

“However, I am not sure how someone who said the things he did about my daughter and me is seeking to portray himself as a victim.”

But Zara has apparently rubbished Ferne’s claims, telling her side of the story in a now-deleted post on Instagram Stories.

“Just to be clear I witnessed this entire incident and this statement is a complete lie,” she said.

“My boyfriend was standing up for me because I was the one being intimidated and numerous witnesses can confirm this… he told her to stop being a bully, that she is a mother and should no better… fair right?

“He never said anything about her daughter at all… I was there and I heard and saw the whole thing and so did others!!!! Lying gets you nowhere in life!!”

Adam also posted – then deleted – a tweet claiming he would share the CCTV footage of the incident in response to Ferne’s statement.

“Thank you for making my decision for me. CCTV…” he said. “I didn’t want to do this because of your daughters sake. But…”

The alleged incident is reported to have started when Ferne told fellow guests to avoid the Love Island couple. According to reports, the spat then escalated with Adam claiming Ferne threw her glass at him.

A police spokesperson confirmed earlier this week the incident is being investigated.

“An allegation of common assault was made to police by a man, aged in his 20s, following an incident with a woman, also aged in her 20s, at the O2 Arena on Tuesday, 22 January,” they said.

“No one was injured during the incident. There has been no arrest. Enquiries continue.”
