Emily Atack reportedly ‘locked in theatre after people spotted outside with machetes’

She entertained fans while coppers dealt with the situation

Inbetweeners star Emily Atack saw the debut gig in her new sold-out comedy tour, Talk Thirty To Me, end in dramatic fashion.

The actress and her fans were locked in Birmingham’s Old Rep Theatre yesterday (April 11th) amid reports of people with machetes near the premises.

A source in the know told ED! that Emily, 29, entertained the crowds “for a short time” while police outside handled the incident.

Shortly after the show, Emily took to Twitter to apologise and thank fans for making her first gig an otherwise “special” experience.

She tweeted: “Birmingham… I can’t tell you how special you made my first show. What a wonderful audience. I laughed (and almost cried) with you all.

“I’m sorry for that scare at the end, how awful?! hope you all got home safe! LOVE YOU ALL!”

Fans rushed to heap praise on the star for handling the situation so well and otherwise nailing her first gig.

Replying to her tweet, one said: “You handled a difficult situation very well and professionally – thanks for a good show.”

Another wrote: “We had an amazing time! You were brilliant! Thank you for coming back after to check on us all!”

Someone else commented: “Great show, Emily. There was no need to lock us in at the end. You just had to ask, we would have stayed.”

One Twitter user claiming to be at the show said they were locked in the theatre “for an hour” amid reports there were “two guys with machetes”.

A source quoted by The Sun echoed this claim, telling the paper: “There was a lock-in due to a police incident outside the theatre. Reports of people nearby seen with machetes.”

Emily, who was a firm favourite in the last series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, is currently filling in for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on This Morning alongside her pal John Barrowman.
