It's expected to be sunny and humid

Britain could bask in a 27C scorcher in the coming weeks as May comes to a cold and wet end.

Tuesday (May 28) will bring sunshine and showers for many, and thunder is possible in some areas.

Into tonight, persistent rain will gradually spread into Northern Ireland, Wales and southwest England.

On Wednesday, cloud and rain will slowly spread east with some heavy bursts possible.

Forecasters are predicting long sunny spells in many sheltered central and southern areas as it becomes warm and humid on Saturday (June 1)

The Met Office said temperatures could even hit 27C in those areas on Saturday.

The high temperatures will make the UK hotter than some places in Spain, including Ibiza and Barcelona – where highs of 23-24C are predicted.
