Anne Hegerty’s return to The Chase is hailed a triumph

Viewers are glad to have The Governess back

Anne Hegerty has received high praise after returning to ITV quiz show The Chase following her stint in the I’m A Celebrity jungle.

The nation saw her softer side on I’m A Celebrity, but the no-nonsense Governess was well and truly back and had fans laughing with her sharp trash talk.

The 60-year-old told contestants on yesterday’s episode of The Chase (3 January): “When I go swimming with sharks, they’re the ones that need the cage.”

Viewers voiced their excitement at seeing her return to the screen and praised her new confidence.

One wrote: “#TheChase well played team you were great but @annehegerty was on great form tonight on @ITVChase bring on tomorrow. Will the week end with a big win?”

A second added: “Is it wrong for me to say i think i fancy Anne Hegerty #TheChase @anne_hegerty”.

A third viewer said: “Anne that was outstandingly super.”

Another viewer applauded Anne for her sarcastic comment to young contestant Heidi, after host Bradley Walsh said a question was “before her time”. Anne retorted: “If only someone invented books”!

They tweeted: “I love @anne_hegerty – she just DESTROYED the whole “before your time” nonsense with her fantastic comment “If only someone invented books”

“I genuinely just applauded#thechase”.

The quiz master won more fans after her appearance on I’m A Celebrity, where she showed her emotional side and also opened up about her Asperger’s Syndrome.
