American burger chain Wendy’s is coming to the UK and fans couldn’t be happier

It's the world's third most popular burger chain

| Updated:

American burger chain Wendy’s is set to open its first UK stores as early as next year, and fast food fans have said they’ve been waiting “20 years” to hear the news.

The Stateside burger giant is planning to head across the Atlantic with the possibility of opening hundreds of outlets.

It’s the world’s third largest burger chain, behind McDonald’s and Burger King.

While they do sell salads, it’s the burgers everyone will be craving.

Offerings include the Baconator burger – a 950-calorie creation featuring a half-pound of fresh beef, American cheese, six pieces of crispy Applewood smoked bacon, ketchup and mayo.

Or try the whopping Bacon Jalapeño Triple Cheeseburger – a 1,280-calorie, three-quarter-pound burger topped with jalapeños, bacon, cheese, fried onions, cheese sauce and a smoky jalapeño sauce, which the chain says is a “whole lotta heat to eat”.

I’ve been waiting for this moment for 20 years! I, as an ambassador of all who love #burgers across England, would like to say, we welcome you with open arms!

It seems the Great British public are up for the challenge, though.
