Tesco invites customers to ‘pig & mix’ on NINE different varieties of pigs in blankets this Christmas

Which will you pig out on?

| Updated:

Supermarket giant Tesco has responded to the news that two in three Brits have named pigs in blankets as their favourite festive trimming by launching a range of nine different types of the treat this Christmas.

We think we’re going to need a bigger plate.

The range includes pork, chicken, giant, vegan and even sweet pigs in blankets.

And the store is inviting its customers to “pig and mix” from the range, as it’s all priced at £5 or under.

Customers will be able to celebrate the festive season by choosing between the traditional classic and a twist on the original.

Opt for a spicy Spanish version with ten chorizo-style British pork sausages with smoked red peppers, paprika and garlic wrapped in oak-smoked streaky bacon.

For a lighter chicken alternative, opt for the ten Chicks In Blankets – chicken sausages hand-wrapped in smoked streaky bacon.

There’s also a jumbo-sized option and plant-based pigless blankets.

In store in December, the vegan Plant Chef Pigless Blankets feature Cumberland-style bangers packed with pea protein and roasted mushrooms wrapped in a vegan pastry.

Bitesize bacon-wrapped sausages can also be found adorning a Tesco Finest stuffing wreath, that’s sure to wow guests at the Christmas dinner table.

Studded with whole cranberries, the stuffing is made with British pork and Bramley apples and has a centre of tangy cranberry compote and it’s topped with six Tesco Finest Pigs In Blankets.

At which point is it acceptable to start scoffing pigs in blankets because ‘it’s nearly Christmas’? Asking for a friend.

The Tesco Finest Pigs In Blankets also come in packs of ten and cost £2.50, while the original version of the festive accompaniment comes in a pack of 12 and costs £2.

However, pigs in blankets needn’t be limited to Christmas dinner either, as Tesco has turned this traditional trimming into two new mini chocolate characters.

The delicious white chocolate hollow pig is new for 2019. Priced at £3.50, it has a pink strawberry-flavoured face.

While the chocolate lollipop is £1 and features a mini pig in blanket made from milk chocolate.

And you don’t have to wait till Christmas for them to hit the stores as the sweet treats are on sale now!

On average, Brits will eat 3.8 pigs in blankets with their Christmas dinner, so which will you be sampling?

Twitter is yet to react to the news, but we expect this one guy will be rushing to his nearest store.
