The One Where Phil Appeared

It may have been a hit throughout the 1990s and 2000s, but American sitcom Friends still has armies of fans across the world.

Phillip Schofield stunned viewers of This Morning today (Monday September 16) with the news that he once made an appearance on the show.

Phil, 57, made the revelation while he and co-host Holly Willoughby were discussing the likelihood of the show coming back for a reunion.

They were chatting with a Hollywood expert when Phil said: “I have actually been on Friends.”

“I’ve been in an episode of Friends,” he then clarified.

Excited by the revelation Holly asked Phil if he remembers which episode it was he appeared in.

“Yeah, the one where they keep the scary books in the fridge,” Phil answered, referring to the season three episode, The One Where Monica and Richard Are Just Friends.

But before Holly and viewers got too excited, Phil said that he was only a member of the studio audience.

“When I say I was on Friends… my laugh was on Friends,” he said.

He went onto explain that he laughed so loudly during the recording you can hear him on the laughter track.

Phil and Holly are back in the studio this week after a rare foray out and about.

Last week, the pair broadcast live from Downton Abbey and divided fans.

A delighted Holly practically squealed with joy as she and Phil sat on the This Morning sofa in the grounds of Highclere Castle, where Downton Abbey is set.

Not everyone was happy about the ‘overkill’ on the ITV period drama, which has a film version that is now out in cinemas.
