Phillip Schofield apologises as guest swears live on This Morning

The guest quickly realised his mistake

Phillip Schofield apologised after a guest swore live on This Morning today.

The presenter and his co-star Holly Willoughby were talking to Hollywood actor Richard Dreyfuss about his career in showbiz land.

However, Richard appeared to forget where he was and accidentally let slip a naughty word.

The Jaws actor was discussing his career ahead of his one-off show, An Evening with Richard Dreyfuss – which is being held in London this month.

The star was talking about his career in his early years of being an actor and revealed a moment he first discovered he was a “short” man.

Richard said he thought he was quite tall until he reached 19-years-old.

But after being told he was “short”, Richard said he began embracing his height.

He said: “I was like [expletive],” but stopped himself as he realised the mistake he made.

He added: “Oops, mortally offended.”

Turning to the camera, Phil cut in, saying: “Sorry!”

It comes after the presenter found himself at the centre of headlines over the weekend.

It was reported that Amanda had allegedly gone to a top ITV exec to raise concerns that Phil had blocked her from becoming his co-host on This Morning.

It was claimed that she wanted the job while Holly was in Australia to stand in for Ant McPartlin on I’m A Celebrity.

A TV executive was quoted as saying: “She feels Phil unfairly used his powers of persuasion. She was told he’d chosen Rochelle because she was easier to ‘manage’ on air – and understandably that incensed her.”

Yesterday, Phil rubbished reports of a rift, saying the tabloids have “got it in for me”.

He also took to Twitter last night (Sunday 23) to refute any allegations.

He said: “The end of another really sad weekend.

“When you try for 35 years to be the easiest, most fun person to work with and read such hurtful and wildly untrue stories from nameless ‘sources’.”

“Obviously I’ll take it on the chin… I just hope you know me better.”

Meanwhile, during her Heart FM breakfast show this morning, Amanda claimed Phil turned down the offer of a coffee chat to sort things out.

She said that it “wasn’t nice to wake up to those headlines this weekend”.

Co-host Jamie Theakston asked her if she had approached Phil to discuss their problems, and said that: “Yes, I text him recently but didn’t get a text back.”
