Viewers mock BBC Breakfast for bizarre Professor Stephen Hawking blunder

Something is not right here!

We all know live TV can be a perilous thing at the best of times – and that viewers love nothing more than pointing out even the tiniest of errors.

So spare a thought for whoever was in charge of captions during Tuesday’s episode of BBC Breakfast…

Fans were a mixture of baffled and amazed when Professor Stephen Hawking popped up on an Australian beach chatting about sharks.

Dressed in a black wet suit and sun hat, and chatting about drones, Professor Hawking looked rather different to usual.

Er, because it wasn’t Professor Hawking…

And fans had GREAT fun pointing out that little error on Twitter!

Nothing gets past them, does it?

Oops!

Though, as BBC’s local Cambridgeshire website pointed out, Prof Hawking had actually been on the show, too.

Just not talking about sharks. Or Australian beaches. Or wearing a wetsuit.

It’s not the first time BBC Breakfast’s made a bit of a faux pas recently.

Last week, Naga Munchetty had to apologise after getting her clock-reading all mixed up, saying it was three minutes to seven, when it was actually three minutes to eight.

Cue panic from fans about whether their alarms were wrong – and much merriment at Naga’s expense!

Taking it all in good humour, former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Naga took to Twitter after the show to apologise for her blunder.

She tweeted: “Oops – sorry – failed again to tell the time correctly.”

Better luck next time!
