This Morning viewers lash out at bizarre segment on POACHED EGGS

A step too far?

| Updated:

With two hours of airtime to fill five days a week, This Morning has to be pretty creative when it comes to its daily segments.

It can’t be big-time, hard-hitting interviews and exclusives all the time, right?

And viewers of Tuesday’s show were less than impressed when they were subjected to a feature on how to cook the perfect poached egg.

As one disgruntled fan tweeted: “If you can’t poach an egg, you have no place in a civilised society.”

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were joined in the kitchen by Dr Stuart Farrimond, a hospital doctor-turned-food scientist.

Clad in a white lab coat, he talked Holly and Phil through his foolproof way of making the perfect poached egg i.e. with no white stringy bits.

But many fans felt it was all a bit much for creating a simple dish.

Others said it was making things too complex and long, with one quipping: “At this rate we could get a science degree by the time the eggs are ready.”

Another joked: “I could have made and eaten 10 poached eggs in the time you are talking about it!”

Other naughty viewers, meanwhile, admitted they were secretly hoping the perfect poached eggs experiment didn’t work.

Ah, the joys of live TV and unpredictability!

Unfortunately for them, the finished eggs came out seriously mouth-wateringly good.

Just look at them!

Holly – a self-confessed poached egg mega fan – couldn’t wait to tuck in, but Phil was a little less excited, given he’s not a fan.

Madness, Phil – how can you resist that oozy yolk and fluffy white?!

We know what we’re having for lunch!
