They had a rocky start to the weekend... with a pretty amazing end result!

Ruth Langsford has some SERIOUS making up to do with husband Eamonn Holmes!

The 57-year-old revealed on today’s Loose Women that she and Eamonn had a bit of a tiff over the weekend that got slightly out of hand… and it was all because Eamonn was hiding something from her!

A sheepish Ruth revealed that Eamonn’s birthday was on Sunday, but she’s been so busy lately she hadn’t had time to organise something.

Luckily, Eamonn’s son stepped in to say he’d arranged a lunch for Eamonn, so Ruth was able to pretend she’d had a hand in that and hadn’t just forgotten about it.

So far, so good, right?!

Well, it all went downhill as the date approached… and Ruth’s stint on Strictly ended up being drawn into it!

Ruth explained: “We had a bit of a row on Saturday, which is unusual for us, as you know! There was a bit of tension in the house but come Sunday, it was his birthday and I need to be nice now.

“So on Sunday morning, I was like, ‘Morning! Happy birthday!’ And he grunted at me!”

Ruth continued: “It will become apparent as the story goes on that he was winding me up to the point where I said to him, ‘I know what this is about! You didn’t want me to do Strictly and you didn’t like the fact I wasn’t here and I did something on my own without you and did it very well!’

“He said, ‘Oh really, that’s why?’

“Well, to cut a long story short, we went to the hotel restaurant the kids had booked and he’d organised a ‘Well Done For Doing Strictly’ party for me!”

Oh, Ruth!

The star explained how she and Eamonn drove up to the hotel with her still pretending she’d helped arrange a birthday lunch for him, only to be ushered into a room where her friends, family and Strictly partner Anton du Beke were waiting!

“I was completely overwhelmed,” she said.

“I have SO much making up to do. Can you imagine how smug he must have been feeling!”

Ruth added: “Eamonn is very good at surprises and that was a hard one for him to organise as he didn’t know when I was coming out of Strictly. It was going on for weeks, emails back and forth, standing people down.”

When asked how she’ll make it up to Eamonn, Ruth just said: “Well, it will have to be good!”
