Rochelle and Marvin Humes said it was “pretty horrific” to watch their bandmates Mollie King and Aston Merrygold compete against one another in the Strictly dance-off two weeks’ ago.

As we all know, it was Aston who was sent home after head judge Shirley Ballas brought down the axe on his time on the show.

Speaking on today’s Lorraine, Rochelle from the Saturdays said it was terrible for her and her JLS star husband to see their friends in that situation.

She said: “It was a tense watch. We are all friends. It was pretty horrific the week they were both in the dance-off, I had such a knot in my tummy. Neither of them should have been in the bottom two.”

Rochelle said she placed the blame for Aston’s Strictly demise on one judge in particular – and it’s not Shirley.

“It was the four from Craig that did it,” she said of the low score he gave Aston’s Viennese Waltz.

Marvin said he and his fellow JLS bandmates were all “gobsmacked” by Aston’s departure as at one time he had been the favourite to win.

He revealed they all had a conference call that Saturday night to discuss it and Aston “handled it really well.”

“We took it worse than he did!” Rochelle chipped in.

Rochelle said she felt sorry for her friend Mollie given all the “outrage” she faced over Aston leaving instead of her and her partner AJ.

She said she’d been impressed at how her bandmate comeback fighting on Saturday’s show.

“She had a confidence knock being in the bottom two twice but she’s doing really well,” Rochelle said.

Meanwhile, the parents-of-two were on Lorraine to promote this year’s Children In Need which they will help present.

The couple said there are lots of exciting things in store on the show, including a Doctor Who exclusive and the cast of EastEnders performing West End songs.
