Piers Morgan claims his parents would ‘disown’ him if he went on I’m A Celebrity

It's not about the bugs

Piers Morgan has been outspoken about why he won’t go on I’m A Celebrity but today he shared the real reason why he’ll never be a campmate – it’s all down to being a loyal son.

The conversation came up on today’s Good Morning Britian as I’m A Celebrity returns this weekend and they celebrated by welcoming a boa constrictor into the studio.

The snake, called Belle, was wrapped around a brave Richard Arnold as he talked about the rumoured contestants.

This led to Piers’ colleagues asking him if he would hold the snake, to which the co-host said he wouldn’t mind.

He said: “I like snakes and spiders. I would actually be very good in the jungle but I have no desire to eat kangaroo testicles surrounded by Z-listers.”

Piers has previously said this was his reason for not going on the show, despite being offered large sums of money.

But today, he went on to share the real reason he’ll never star in the reality show.

He explained: “My parents have only had one conversation with me about what would cross the line. My mother told me, ‘your father and I have discussed it and what would cross the line is if you went in the jungle eating kangaroo testicles, we would have to disown you’.”

He added: “After all the things I have put them through, that would be the tipping point! Don’t worry parents, it’s not going to happen.”

The father-of-four said if he did appear, he would be crowned King Of The Jungle based on his previous reality TV show appearance on the American version of The Apprentice with Donald Trump.

He said: “If I did I’m A Celebrity I would win as the last reality show I entered I won and I was chosen the winner by the now President of the United States.”

However, there is one competition Piers hasn’t won.

They revealed the results of a poll carried out by the Radio Times and their readers named Eamonn Holmes as their favourite breakfast TV presenter of all time.

Johnny Vaughn came second and Piers third.

He was able to spin it though to make himself the champion.

“I am the number one current breakfast TV presenter,” he said, delighted to have beaten BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker into fourth place.

Meanwhile, Susanna Reid was the queen of breakfast telly, coming in sixth place and the favourite woman in the poll of more than 33,000 people.
