Emmerdale spoiler: Huge new storyline planned for Ross Barton

So does this mean he's not the murderer?!

He’s right in the thick of the ‘who killed Emma’ storyline, but it looks like there won’t be any rest for Ross Barton even after the murderer is revealed.

Michael Parr, who plays moody Ross, has announced that there’s a huge storyline coming up for Mr Barton in the new year.

And he says it’s completely separate from the Emma murder-mystery (hold it, does that make it more or less likely that he’s the culprit?!).

“Ross has a big story coming his way in the new year but I’m not allowed to tell you anything about it,” Michael told the Inside Soap Yearbook.

“It’s a big subject we’re going to be tackling and I’ll have to do a lot of research for it, which really excites me. It takes me back to my days of studying at drama school!”

Being involved in this new story doesn’t mean Ross isn’t responsible for mum Emma’s death, of course. Emmerdale’s no stranger to murderers wandering the village for a while – sometimes years – before they get their comeuppance.

Michael says he’s thought about whether his alter-ego could be the killer – and decided he absolutely could be.

“I’ve been in this situation before – Ross hung Pete off that exact same viaduct. It’s a family tradition!” Michael said.

“Plus he shot Robert, and at the time we didn’t know how that would pan out and whether he would die.”

And he added that Ross being the killer could mean us seeing some of the old Barton Bad Boy spark once more.

“If it does turn out to be Ross, then hopefully it will bring back that edge he used to have.”

We reckon anything that brings more Ross Barton to our screens is good news!
