EastEnders favourite reportedly killed off this Christmas

It seems no one's safe in Albert Square

If rumours are to be believed, it looks like Max Branning is set to kill of Ian Beale this Christmas.

With his plan to bring down the Square falling down around him, it seems Max might resort to desperate measures to seek revenge. But would he really go through with killing Ian?

EastEnders bosses want this Christmas to be the biggest yet in Walford. A source told The Sun, “Max becomes obsessed with revenge and that means wanting rid of Ian — but this time for good.

“It’s a classic old-school storyline that will leave the viewers on the edge of their seats. Ian has been top of Max’s list since he came out of prison.

“In the run up to Christmas Max is a man on the edge and takes matters in his own hands when he tries to kill Ian. How Max will try to finish him off is not clear yet, but the episodes are set to be gripping.”

Ian, played by Adam Woodyatt, is a huge Walford favourite and is one of the soap’s original cast members.  But with Max already running Ian’s wife, Jane, out of town, it looks like Ian could be next.

Cast members have already hinted that this festive season is set to be huge for the Branning family, And Jake Wood, who plays Max, has revealed even more secrets…

The actor told OK! Magazine: “We’re building up for the Christmas episodes so we’re really busy.

“I’ve been back a year since my break. I love working there. There are exciting things happening and Max is a big part of them.

“It is hard work filming them because it’s full-on for us, but I think it’ll be worthwhile.”

It has already been revealed that Lorna Fitzgerald and Jacqueline Jossa who play Jake’s on-screen daughters, Abi and Lauren Branning, are departing the show at the end of the year.

Talking about their exits, Jake admitted: “I don’t know exactly when they’ll be going, but Max will be in and around that.

“It’ll be sad to see them go. I’ve known Lorna since she was 10 years old and so she feels like part of my family. But I’ve got every faith they’ll go on to incredible stuff. They’re both so talented.

“Obviously them leaving will affect Max in a massive way. The Branning family are shrinking so I am waiting to hear about Max – there are no guarantees.”
