It’s been a very rough time for Emmerdale’s David and Tracy Metcalfe the past few weeks…
And it’s about to get a lot worse for them as their marriage is hit by another juggernaut tonight (Thursday 8 March).
David has been struggling to come to terms with Tracy’s past as a prostitute and seems reluctant to forgive and forget.
So, when it was splashed on the front-page of the local newspaper, David felt humiliated and embarrassed – and tried to hide every copy in the village!

However, in the forthcoming emotional scenes, Tracy finds the newspapers in the bin and the realisation that David is ashamed of her causes her to get drunk. And we mean, steaming!
In tonight’s double bill, David decides to woo Dr Cavanagh by inviting him to dinner – knowing the medic is the judge of a retail award David wants to win.
But he is mortified when a drunk Tracy ruins the soiree, announcing to the guests that she used to be a prostitute and leaving David even more horrified and humiliated. Cringe!
In an interview with Radio Times magazine, actor Matthew Wolfenden – who plays David – explains: “David gets a delivery of the newspapers and bins them because he doesn’t want anyone in the village reading about Tracy. But Tracy finds them, ends up getting drunk and announces at the party that she used to be a prostitute.

“The doctor and his prim-and-proper wife then get up and leave. At this point, David feels like saying to Tracy that he’s done with her.”

Amy Walsh, who plays Tracy, adds: “There’s a line where David and Tracy are standing outside after all this has happened and she says, ‘I know you’re ashamed of me’. And all David can say is, ‘am I meant to be proud?’.”
SOB!
Shop assistant Tracy was forced to reveal her past to husband David when she chained blackmailer Phil up in a hotel room and began filming him for his wife, describing his vile attempt to force her to sleep with him.
When David walked in on the alarming scene, Tracy had to spill the beans.
