Emmerdale fans got a bit of a shock last night when evil Gordon Livesy seemed to come back from the dead, with an interest in buying Home Farm from Joe Tate.

Okay, so it wasn’t actually Gordon, but the actor who originally played the character in a completely different role.

Gerard Fletcher played Aaron’s dad and Chas’s ex between 2003 and 2008 when he would often pop up and cause problems for Chas.

The role of Gordon was recast in 2015 when Gary Mavers took over the role for the emotional storyline in which it was revealed that Aaron had been sexually abused by his dad as a child.

Gordon was then sent to prison for 18 years, where he later committed suicide.

But viewers with long memories were quick to spot that they recognised the potential Home Farm buyer, who wanted to turn the site into an exclusive club.

He was put off however when smoke from Aaron and Robert Sugden’s scrap yard was spotted and when Robert let slip a few home truths, setting up a rivalry between him and Joe.

Fans jumped on social media to point out they recognised Gerard’s face.

“Joe Tate’s buyer is the original Gordon,” one viewer pointed out, while another added: “This buyer played the original Gordon Livesy!”

He also cropped up back in 2016 when he starred as the celebrant who fronted Holly Barton’s funeral.

They sure love their familiar faces in the Dales, don’t they?

Gerard has also appeared in Coronation Street and recently popped up in Kay Mellor’s ITV drama, Girlfriends.
