Emmerdale boss drops tantalising baby bombshell

Wait, WHAT?

It’s safe to say that life for Moira Barton isn’t going to be quite the same after this week – almost dying in a fire and giving birth to a baby you didn’t know you were expecting does that to a person.

And while Moira confessed to Emma Barton last night that her new son was Pete’s baby Dales boss, Iain MacLeod, has said it might not be quite as simple as that.

Iain told Metro.co.uk: “We’re not telling a protracted who’s the daddy story, but I will say that when Moira’s in a burning building and needs her mortal enemy to save her she could be forgiven for saying anything to get out of it.

“Moira isn’t lying but the truth is a bit more complicated. When you look back at the timelines there might be other suspects…”

Namely, Cain Dingle. Gasp.

Natalie J Robb who plays new mum, Moira, also confirmed that Pete might have some competition in the potential daddy stakes.

She added: “I think she just said it was Pete’s to get Emma to rescue her… It was the only way to stop her shutting her in the barn to die.”

Wowsers. If the baby is actually Cain’s, what will that mean for his current relationship with vicar, Harriet Finch?

And would he actually step up and accept responsibility for this bubba? He didn’t exactly do the right thing with little Kyle, did he?

Iain has also revealed that Moira will struggle with her newborn – and the guilt for not living the recommended healthy lifestyle of a pregnant woman.

He told Digital Spy: “Moira’s drinking will play on her conscience in terms of her mental state going forward.

“She’s not oblivious to the fact that her lifestyle wasn’t ideal for a pregnant woman, so she will blame herself for the difficulties that follow.

“We also wanted to make this feel like a continuation of the Holly story. It casts a big shadow over Moira’s ability to bond with the child and be happy. It’s a difficult and conflicted time for her.”

Looks like this week is just kicking off the drama for Moira.
