Dancing On Ice champion issues stark warning to its new stars

And he knows what he's talking about

One of Dancing On Ice’s most successful celeb contestants has given a stern warning to those stepping into his ice-skates when the reality series returns soon to ITV.

Ray Quinn, who is known for starring in Brookside and being an X Factor finalist, won the series in 2009 and the all-star version in 2014 – so he really knows his stuff.

Ray warned the newbies how dangerous scooting around on the ice can actually be – revealing a horrific injury.

He told viewers of Good Morning Britain that while the show was great fun to take part in, the new bunch of celebs have no idea what they’re letting themselves in for.

He also revealed that he was almost very seriously injured when his partner, professional skater Maria Filippov’s blade hit his head. Ouch.

Ray said: “I’m looking forward to watching it. Jake Quickenden is my mate and he’s doing it.

“They have got no idea what they’re letting themselves in for.

“It’s a lot of fun. It’s a challenge, there are moments you fall and hurt yourself. It’s dangerous, it’s a dangerous sport.”

Speaking about his horrific near miss injury, he added: “I went in to rehearsals and as I was lifting her the skate came down too quick and the back of the blade nicked my head.

“Because it was so cold it popped open. They had to glue my head together.”

Well, TV has had a potentially-life-threatening-reality hole since Channel 4’s The Jump was axed.

Dancing On Ice will return to ITV in the New Year with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby fronting it again.

Celebs confirmed so far include: Brooke Vincent, Cheryl Baker, Kem Cetinay, Candice Brown, Max Evans, Jake Quickenden, Monty Panesar, Alex Beresford and Donna Air.
