Coronation Street star confirms I’m A Celeb appearance

A soap favourite has arrived Down Under!

Coronation Street’s Jennie McAlpine has CONFIRMED those widespread rumours she’s signed up for I’m A Celebrity.

Well, the whole arriving at Brisbane airport just a week before the show starts was kind of a giveaway!

The actress, best known as Fiz Brown on the cobbles, was snapped in Australia over the weekend ahead of the new series kicking off on Sunday night.

Thankfully for Corrie fans, her trip Down Under doesn’t mean Fiz will be leaving the cobbles – but she kept tight-lipped on what her character will be doing while she’s away.

She told The Mirror: “This is just a little holiday. What is happening to Fiz whilst I am away? That is a good question.”

The actress also said her son Albert, two, will be at home having an “adventure” with his dad – her partner Chris – while she is in Australia.

“My little boy is being looked after by daddy. I think they are having a bit of a adventure,” she said.

Jennie isn’t the first Corrie star swapping the street for the jungle.

Previous Coronation Street favourites to have tackled I’m A Celebrity include Helen Flanagan and Antony Cotton.

While I’m A Celebrity bosses try to keep the line-up under wraps until launch night, the cat is usually well and truly out of the bag when stars start arriving at the Aussie airport.

As well as Jennie, we’ve seen The Saturdays singer Vanessa White and ex Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas passing through arrivals, effectively confirming their participation.

Also pictured in Oz have been former footballer Dennis Wise, boxer Amir Khan, Made In Chelsea’s Georgia Toffolo and even Boris Johnson’s dad Stanley!

Meanwhile, WAG Rebekah Vardy was snapped arriving at Heathrow, presumably to catch her long-haul flight Down Under.

Ant & Dec have also arrived in Australia, finally putting an end to ongoing speculation Ant may not be well enough to co-host the show this year.

Since then, he’s retreated from the limelight to focus on his well-being – but he told The Sun yesterday: “I’m excited to be back, I can’t wait. It’s going to be a good show. I’m feeling great.”

Great news!
