Coronation Street SPOILER: Bethany Platt kidnap plot ends in death

How far will evil Nathan go to dodge prison?

It looks like Bethany Platt is in extreme danger next week as evil groomer, Nathan Curtis, pulls out all the stops to stop her giving evidence against him in court.

This week, Bethany has been shocked by Nathan’s little accomplice, Mel, turning up on the Street, asking for her help.

Trusting Bethany, tries to convince Mel that she could also give evidence and make sure Nathan is sent down for his evil crimes against young girls.

But, unknown to Bethany, Mel is still under Nathan’s spell and is willing to do anything – and we mean anything – to stop him being sent to prison.

Next week, groomer and rapist Nathan, is so desperate to avoid a stint in jail that he hatches up a plan to keep Bethany well and truly away from the courtroom. But will he try to silence her for good?

Nathan calls Mel from inside the cell he’s being held on remand in. He promises her that they’ll be together properly once he’s free. He then gives Mel some specific instructions to keep Bethany from giving evidence.

Malicious Mel tells Bethany she is going to speak to the police and asks the teen to go with her.

But once they’re in the car, Mel drives to the railway tracks and attacks  Bethany.

She then grabs Bethany by the hair and drags her down to the train tracks, where the pair battle it out – Mel armed with a metal bar.

Later Bethany’s friend and rookie police officer, Craig Tinker, is called to an incident at the tracks. There, he finds a necklace he recognises as Bethany’s alongside the body of a young woman.

Has Mel killed Bethany?

Meanwhile, Nathan and his barrister are elated as Bethany fails to turn up to court – will he actually avoid prison?

Corrie boss, Kate Oates, has warned that Nathan’s road to justice might not be as straightforward as we hoped.

At a press event earlier this month, she said: “We’re going to see if Bethany makes it to court.

“It’s a huge deal for a girl of her age in her position to face not one but several perpetrators and all their barristers but we still have the issue of Mel to consider.

“Nathan has a little friend in Mel who has had her brain well and truly washed by him and she is very much on the outside keen to make sure Bethany doesn’t make it to court. So the question is – will Nathan ever face justice?”
