Coronation Street SPOILER: Agony for Bethany as she thinks she’s going mad

Bethany struggles as her past overshadows her future

There’s heartbreak in store for Corrie’s Bethany Platt when her grooming ordeal at the hands of Nathan Curtis comes back to haunt her this week.

The teenager finds herself getting arrested after attacking a customer at her new lap dancing club with a smashed bottle in scenes set to air on Wednesday 26th February.

Later when she emerges in her own clothes, her boss isn’t happy. But things are set to get even worse when a rowdy stag party comes in and things get out of hand.

As the men get a bit hands on, Bethany has a confused moment where she thinks the groom-to-be is Nathan Curtis, and hits out with a broken bottle.

The man was just a look-a-like, but now Bethany is facing a charge of GBH and will find herself back in court and potentially prison.

But after being arrested on Wednesday, Bethany then faces court on Friday 2nd March. Something that is bound to drag up unwanted memories from her ordeal last year at Nathan’s trial.

Lucy Fallon, who plays the troubled teen, has revealed to metro.co.uk that going to court isn’t her only worry. Bethany also thinks that she might be losing her mind…

“She thinks that she is going mad as she worries she will start seeing Nathan everywhere. There is a scene with Sarah where she worries that she is mentally ill and might end up in a hospital like her mum.”

While Sarah tells her daughter that it might be wise for her to start up her counselling seasons again, could it be that what happened to Bethany last year will stay with her forever?

Lucy definitely thinks that’s the case: “The key is that we don’t ever forget what happened as Bethany will always have triggers in her life where it will come back. This is a lifelong thing – it will stay with Bethany forever.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
