Coronation Street legend is ‘taking a break’ from show

He's certainly going be missed

| Updated:

It has been reported that much-loved Coronation Street actor, Malcom Hebden, who is loved by fans as Norris Cole, will be taking a break from filming.

It is unknown exactly how long Norris will be off our screens for, but Digital Spy has revealed that the 78-year-old is taking a hiatus from the show.

The website also claimed that the break is immediate and the actor has already stopped filming with the rest of the cast.

This isn’t the first time that Malcom has hit the headlines since the start of the year.

On 10th January a US news site wrongly announced that Hebden had passed away – leading to the shocking story to go viral.

Fans took to Twitter to share their heartache and anger at the misleading report…

But much to fans’ relief the story was obviously fake and it was left to Malcom’s co-star Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Jenny Bradley in the northern soap, to step in and put the record straight.

After replying to a worried fan’s tweet reassuring them that lovely Malcom was very much alive and well, she then went on the criticise the website for their inaccurate story.

Malcom has played Norris, who is a huge part of the Coronation Street dynasty, since 1994. He took a break from the show in 1997 before returning in 1999.
