Coronation Street fans have a big problem with Craig Tinker’s OCD storyline

They slammed it as "unrealistic".

Craig Tinker has finally confessed to having obsessive compulsive disorder, after weeks of struggling with the condition behind closed doors.

In emotionally-charged episodes which aired last night (Thursday 5 April), Craig’s struggles finally become public knowledge when the investigation into Pat Phelan reached his doorstep.

When the police called at Craig’s flat, knowing it was Andy Carver’s last residence before his death, Craig panicked and locked himself in.

However, a determined Bethany climbed in through the balcony only to find Craig upset and crying while performing his rituals.

After calming him down, Bethany convinced Craig (Colson Smith) to see a doctor.

And that’s where Corrie fans spotted what they thought was a HUGE blunder…

Fans couldn’t believe that Craig was able to see a doctor straight away!

One said: “Most unrealistic thing I’ve ever seen on coronation street is Craig getting a Doctors appointment as quick as he has done.”

Another said: “Dunno about the #Phelan storyline being far-fetched…. what about Craig getting a same-day doctor’s appointment?!”

Many more chimed in, with a third saying: “I want to know how Craig could get a doctor’s appointment on the same day? It takes me weeks!”

A furious mum wrote: “My two year old waits two weeks to see a doctor, Craig [bleeps] about with a plug socket and gets in in five minutes!”

Some viewers also criticised the soap, saying you don’t “get severe OCD overnight”.

But there were also those who praised the show for tackling the issue.

Actor Colson recently opened up about the storyline, admitting that he hopes it’ll change some of the stereotypes attached to the illness.

“I knew the stereotypes probably, but it’s fascinating how it takes different forms,” he said on This Morning. “How it’s seen in the public needs to change. There needs to be more awareness, the stigma needs to go, and less stereotypes. So that’s what I think the storyline is hopefully going to do.”
