Claire King spills all about ex husband’s affair with her Emmerdale co-star

They were married for 10 years

Former Emmerdale actress Claire King spoke out on Loose Women today about her ex husband’s affair with her then co-star Samantha Giles (Bernice Blackstock), and how she found out that he was cheating.

The 54-year-old actress who is more recently famous for her role in Coronation Street, revealed that she only found out her husband was cheating on her with Samantha, when Samantha’s own husband at the time actually wrote a letter to her about their partners’ affair.

Claire was married to actor Peter Amory for 10 years, and he played the role of her stepson in Emmerdale when they were younger.

She talked openly on Loose Women about her tumultuous relationship with her ex-husband. She said: “I gave my husband Pete a second chance and he went off and did it again.

“I found out about it through a letter from the girl’s husband and my agent rang me saying ‘There are bits and pieces in the paper’.”

She explained that she doesn’t completely blame his cheating for their split, and that they had been growing distant from each other emotionally.

She said: “It had got past the seven year itch into the 10 years and it was coming to that fork in the road, and you either go down the same path or you decide to take different routes.

“Nobody was really to blame in that, it was just we’d kind of grown apart, but I had given him the second chance. But we’re friends now.”

But surprisingly Claire doesn’t hold a grudge against Samantha and in fact is friendly towards her. She said: “It kind of wasn’t anything to do with her. We [Claire and Peter] got to that stage where we were doing our own thing and at the end of the day, looking back it could have been me.

“It was hard because I was in my 40s, and I was at the crossroads career wise, and everything seemed to implode because it all happened at once, and it was scary.”

She then spoke about how she received an apology from Samantha. She explained: “I met Sam at a funeral of a dear friend of ours and we just bumped into each other and she said ‘look I’m really sorry’ after all these years and I said ‘God it’s so long ago it’s water under the bridge, it’s fine’.”

When Loose Women panelist Nadia Sawalha asked her why she didn’t give him a third chance, as she said some people do in relationships, Claire replied: “Two strikes you’re out.

“People remain within a relationship that really they shouldn’t sometimes and they could have got out. I think you have to move on and live your own life.”
