Speculation has been rife for months now as to the identity of Corrie’s Kate Connor’s new interest with many believing it will be Rana Nazir.
But now it seems to have been confirmed that newcomer Melissa Johns, who’s set to play Imogen, is going to be the girl for Kate.

The Sun have revealed the disability rights campaigner, who’s yet to be seen on screen, will catch Kate’s eye.
However, in a twist, there’s one person who’s not happy about it – yep, you guessed it, Rana!
A source told The Sun Online: “Imogen will make a massive impression on Kate when they first meet and soon end up on the cobbles.
“But while Kate is besotted with her new love it kicks off an unexpected reaction with Rana Nazir.
“Rana’s always been accepting with Kate, but her reaction is strange and seems shockingly homophobic.
“The nurse is standoffish with Kate about her new romance and viewers will be left wondering what’s behind Rana’s behaviour.”
Hmm, we think we might be able to guess what’s behind it: she wants Kate for herself!
Fans have been convinced Rana will be Kate’s new love after a big storyline was revealed for Zeedan’s wife over the summer. In an interview with Soaplife, show boss Kate Oates said:
“We’ll get a deeper insight into Rana Nazir this summer. Why has this previously flighty woman settled for married life, and what secrets lie in her past?”
Actress Faye Brooks has been teasing Kate’s new love interest since January when she said in an interview with Digital Spy at the National Television Awards that her character was going to start a relationship with someone and it wouldn’t be Sophie Webster.

But at the time, she seemed to confirm it would be someone already on the Street – meaning Imogen can’t be the true love of her life…
Faye also told The Sun recently that she wasn’t sure fans would like pairing: “There’s love coming her way, which I think she so rightly deserves after what she’s going through, but it’s completely unexpected.
“I’m thrilled about it.
“I don’t know whether the general public are going to take to it, I just know it’s going to shock people for the right reasons.
“I think this love interest is just what Weatherfield needs – it’s not what you expect at all.”
