Bethany Platt grooming ordeal set to be REVISITED this summer in Coronation Street

Her dark past comes back to haunt her

Bethany Platt is set to face a difficult year as her sex ring ordeal comes back to haunt her this summer.

After going through something so harrowing, Bethany will be affected by what happened to her for the rest of her life, and Lucy Fallon, who plays the troubled teenager, told metro.co.uk that there will be a series of events that spark something in her character…

“I know this story will be revisited again in the summer and that’s all to do with situations that she finds herself in that will have triggers,” she explained.

“The key is that we don’t ever forget what happened as Bethany will always have triggers in her life where it will come back. This is a lifelong thing – it will stay with Bethany forever.”

As a result of the grim things that Bethany went though last year, she has now become a lap dancer in an attempt to gain control over men.

But that is all set to change when things go terribly wrong for the teen next week.

As a stag do comes in to the club where she works, Bethany has a confused moment where she thinks the groom-to-be is Nathan Curtis, and hits out with a broken bottle.

The man was just a look-a-like, but now Bethany is facing a charge of GBH and will find herself back in court and potentially prison.

Lucy told the website: “As for the future, I’m taking things as they come at the moment – obviously I would want Bethany to have happier storylines but I also like the grittier ones.”

But first Bethany must face up to the bottling incident and going to court is bound to drag up nasty reminders of Nathan’s trial last year…

“She is really going to struggle as she is reliving everything. The fear of seeing Nathan and also having to go to court is really hard for that and she won’t really cope.

“She thinks that she is going mad as she worries she will start seeing Nathan everywhere. There is a scene with Sarah where she worries that she is mentally ill and might end up in a hospital like her mum.”
