Phillip Schofield apologises after revealing new look that has divided fans

Looking good, Schofe!

| Updated:

We’re used to seeing Phillip Schofield looking sharp ‘n’ sophisticated on This Morning and Dancing On Ice.

But on Saturday afternoon, he swapped his usual smart trousers, shirts and jackets for a somewhat different (and very blue) look.

The social-media loving telly favourite took to Snapchat to tell fans he was about to attend a 22nd birthday party which had a “double double” theme.

And for Phil, that meant slipping into a “double double” suit!

He explained to the camera: “So, there is a 22nd birthday going on downstairs. It’s a double double party because it’s 22. And I’m about to put my double double on for which I can only apologise.

“It’s not something I would normally wear, although I actually love it!”

Phillip then did a quick change off-camera before emerging in a VERY eye-catching, very matching blue suit covered in black swirls, which he teamed with matching shoes (impressive!) and a blue shirt.

He posed in front of a full length mirror, panning the camera up and down for everybody to see the whole ensemble.

Looking good, Phil!

He didn’t say whose 22nd birthday it was, but our money is on his youngest daughter Ruby.

He later posted another image to Instagram, saying: “Thank you @davidobrien75 for sourcing my #doubledouble@nooseandmonkey suit #inlove #hit.”

But not all his fans thought “hit” was the right word!

One wrote: “I wondered what happened to granny’s curtains when they disappeared from the dry cleaners!”

Another said: “Phil, put the curtains back up where they belong. Tut tut.”

A third added: “Sorry @schofe but that’s an epic fail.”

Others, however, were full of praise, with one saying: “Love it! Makes me think of the clothes Maria made the Von Trapp kids!”

Another quipped: “Silver fox in a curtain, absolutely beautiful.”

A third said: “I love this suit so much! It’s a lot to handle but you manage it.”

Phillip will be back on screens tomorrow night with the latest episode of Dancing On Ice.

The show returned to the airwaves earlier this month following a four-year hiatus, with Phillip and his This Morning partner Holly Willoughby back at the helm.

And already it’s been commissioned for a new series in 2019!

All in all, it’s been a brilliant week for Phil, who also joined Holly in picking up the Best Daytime programme gong at the National Television Awards on Tuesday night.

They won the prize for This Morning (obvs) and looked decidedly worse for the wear when they presented the show the following morning.

But, hey, would it really be the NTAs without Phil and Holly being a tad hungover?!

Answer: nope!
