Oprah Winfrey clears up rumour about Duchess of Sussex's mum

Oprah was a guest at the royal wedding in May

Royal wedding guest Oprah Winfrey has laughed off rumours she lavished Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex's mum with gifts in order to bag an exclusive interview.

There had been speculation that media mogul Oprah was seeking an interview with Meghan's mother Doria Ragland.

Rumours were heightened when Doria was seen leaving Oprah's home before the royal wedding carrying a basket of goodies, leading some to speculate Oprah had treated her to gifts to help secure a chat.

I love that story, that Meghan's mum had come to my house and she left laden with gifts.

Oprah insisted she'd just been having a fun and relaxing day with Doria, a new friend, and the basket Doria was carrying actually contained lunch leftovers!

She explained: "I love that story, that Meghan's mum had come to my house and she left laden with gifts.

"You know what the gifts were? First of all, she's great at yoga, so I said, 'Bring your yoga mat and your sneaks in case we just want to do yoga on the lawn.' So one of the bags was a yoga mat and the other was lunch!"
