Emmerdale’s Matthew Wolfenden suffers horrific DIY injury

He cut himself "to the bone"

| Updated:

Emmerdale’s Matthew Wolfenden revealed a DIY project resulted in him spending four hours in A&E after it was drastically wrong.

The star revealed he ended up slicing his hand and so deep that he could see the bone.

Fans rushed to support the actor after he explained the news on Twitter at the weekend.

The 37-year-old shared a snap of his hand wrapped in a bandage as he wrote: “Bit of DIY today ended in 4 hours in A&E and a comedy bandage to take home!

“Cut it so deep I could see the bone. #owch #idiot.”

Devoted fans rushed to show their support for the dad-of-two.

One wrote: “Ouch get better soon Matthew.”

“That’s dreadful Matt, hope you feel better soon and it heals quickly. No more DIY for you,” another said.

A third tweeted: “Very brave…I’m not sure I’d be able to look to see if I could see the bone or not!”

Others were left wondering if his injury would effect filming on Emmerdale.

Matthew first appeared in the soap back in 2006.

One year later he started dating his co-star Charley Webb, who plays Debbie Dingle in the soap.

The couple got engaged on Christmas Day in 2009 and now have two children together – Buster, seven, and Bowie, one.

Earlier this year the pair revealed that they want to have baby number three before tying the knot.

Speaking to OK! magazine Matthew and Charley, 29, admitted they would love to expand their brood.

Matthew said: “We’ll try for another baby before we plan our wedding.

“We definitely want to get married, but another little one will be first.”

Charley explained: “We’d like to have all of our children at our wedding.”

Matthew went on to say: “We’ve always wanted a big family.

“We talk about it, so hopefully we’re lucky enough to have another.

“A lot of our friends that have two said it will either make you want to stop right there and then, or have lots more.

“Bowie has been such a dream that we definitely want more.”

Speaking about returning to the Dales following her maternity leave Charley admitted: “I did walk into my dressing room and burst into tears.

“Thankfully there was no one else in there.”

Meanwhile Matthew took part in ITV’s The Real Full Monty last month.

The star stripped off for the one-off special show – based on the 90s comedy movie The Full Monty.

Matthew was joined by Diversity star Ashley Banjo, McFly’s Harry Judd and Towie’s Elliott Wright as they performed the saucy routine at The London Palladium.

Presenter Alexander Armstrong, Olympian Mark Foster, presenter Dom Littlewood, Death in Paradise star Danny John Jules and professional ballet dancer Wayne Sleep also joined the lads as they all raised money for prostate cancer.
