Details about Adam Barton’s exit from Emmerdale confirmed by co-star

He'll leave the show early next year

Emmerdale fans, you can breathe a sigh of relief as it’s been confirmed that Adam Barton won’t be killed off when actor Adam Thomas leaves his role early next year.

It’s pretty lucky really when you think about how many Bartons have left the village in body bags. There’s been John, Holly, James and most recently Emma and Finn.

Are the Bartons actually the most death-plagued family in the Dales?

Anyway, Natalie J Robb, who plays Barton matriarch Moira, confirmed that the door was being left wide open for Ads should he wish to make a comeback.

She told the Daily Star: “They’re keeping the door open so hopefully he’ll pop back at some point.

“He’s like a son to me. I’m really going to miss him.” So are we.

There’s been tonnes of speculation about how Adam would bow out following his announcement earlier this year that he was leaving.

Many of us feared he would become a victim of killer Emma Barton during last week’s drama-extravaganza, when he followed the deranged nurse into the woods, equipped with a shot-gun.

Some fans have been speculating that Adam could get the blame for Finn Barton’s murder, as Emma’s letter of confession which she left with Moira’s baby, hasn’t turned up.

Adam was arrested last week for attempted murder, but has so far been released without charge.

Urgh. It would be so nice for Adam to get a happy, joy-filled exit but – considering he’s just reunited with Victoria and there are no plans for Isabel Hodgins to leave – we’re not liking his chances.

Luckily for actor Adam (it’s very confusing with this same-name thing) his off-screen life is much happier and less murdery.

He married his long-term girlfriend, Caroline Daly, in August and the pair share gorgeous three-year-old son Teddy.

He leaves the show after eight drama-filled years. Ads said at the time his exit was announced: “I’ve had an amazing eight years working on Emmerdale and I’ve loved every minute of it.

“It was a really tough decision to take to leave, but I felt that now is the time to move on and challenge myself with some new roles.”

Meanwhile we’re all wondering what this means for the Best Man position at Robron’s promised summer wedding.
