Amanda Holden muses on what-if romance with Simon Cowell

Things could be very different!

| Updated:

They’ve become well known for their firm friendship and banter on Britain’s Got Talent.

So perhaps it’s no surprise that Amanda Holden feels she could possibly have had a little cheeky something with Simon Cowell if they’d met at another time.

Of course, these days Amanda is happily wed to producer Chris Hughes, while Simon is loved up with socialite girlfriend Lauren Silverman.

But that didn’t stop Amanda, 46, musing about what could have been during a recent interview with Attitude magazine.

“I suppose our relationship changed from being quite flirty and fun with each other to settling down with people we are both in love with but still having that flirty, nice behaviour,” she said.

“We are too involved with other people for it to ever be anything. But I have always loved him because he’s really good at not giving you [bleep].”

Amanda once revealed she and Simon, 58, actually did go on a date years and years ago, when they were both single.

It didn’t go too well…

“A very long time ago, when we were both single, we went out on a date but I pre-ordered a cab to come and get me at 10.30pm, which made him laugh and he never forgot that,” she told Daily Mail.

“Simon always tells people he hired me because he fancied me but that’s absolute nonsense. He doesn’t go for blondes.”

Amanda has often spoken out about her close friendship with Simon, which began when he chose her to judge alongside him on Britain’s Got Talent back in 2007.

In an interview with The Mirror last year, Amanda said their bond grew over the years as they each experienced personal heartbreak.

“We’ve gone from having a massive laugh about things, to both going through very personal things that have been horrendous,” she said.

“But we’ve supported each other in that, and come out the other end.”

Amanda has been married to husband Chris since 2008 – and admitted last year she fancies him just as much these days as when they first met.

“It’s opposites attract. We always say we’re a plus and a minus on a battery – you can’t have one without the other,” she told The Sun.

“I really fancy him! He’s never ever been a ‘yes’ husband. We’re opposites on most of our opinions and taste – not argumentative, just fiery. That makes us tick. I’m not going anywhere.”
