Even though one half of them is in prison, we really thought Emmerdale’s Aaron Dingle and Robert Sugden were solid at last.
But it seems viewers are set to be disappointed as Robert gives into temptation and comes onto his ex Rebecca White.
It’s been difficult for Robert with his husband in prison for assaulting Kasim.
Aaron was sent down for a year just days after the boys exchanged heartfelt wedding vows and they seemed united.
But while Aaron struggles in jail, being subjected to homophobic attacks and now getting hooked on drugs to ease the emotional and physical pain, Robert’s also finding things tough on the outside – unable to sleep in the bed he usually shares with Aaron without him.
After finding out he’s been blocked from visiting his hubby after an ‘incident’, Robert wants to get the bottom of what’s going on.
He quizzes Aaron’s little sis, Liv Flaherty who confesses her brother’s turned to illegal substances to cope inside.
When Robert finally gets to see Aaron, he confronts him and begs him to stop using, but a defeated Aaron tells him it’s too late.
And then he really twists the knife in by telling Robert he’s no good to him any more.

As a devastated Robert returns home, he hits the bottle and drunkenly trashes his room.
Needing someone to turn to he texts old flame Rebecca and she immediately comes running.
A blotto Robert makes a move on her and tries to kiss her. She initially pushes him away, but will he take her rejection? Or will he try his luck again?
And will Rebecca respond next time?

Fans are bound to be upset by this latest development, believing that if nothing else Aaron and Robert were committed as a couple.
“After a drunken rant he makes a stupid mistake,” actor Ryan Hawley, who plays Robert, told Digital Spy.
“I do sympathise with Robert given he’s been running around doing all he can for Aaron and Liv.
“But I think Robert loves Aaron and wants to be with him no matter what.”
