X Factor star Danny Tetley arrested ‘for asking child to send sexual images’

He has denied the allegations

Former X Factor star Danny Tetley has been arrested for allegedly asking a child to send him sexual images.

The singer turned himself into Bradford police after they called his mother’s house trying to track him down.

After handing himself in, Danny – who appeared on the talent show last year – was arrested for the offence but denies the allegations against him, insisting he’s been “set up”.

Since the arrest earlier this summer, Danny has been bailed three times as police look into the case.

Danny confirmed he’d turned his phone over to police as part of the investigation.

West Yorkshire police told The Sun that “proceedings are active”.

Speaking to the publication this week from Benidorm, Danny said: “Someone is trying to set me up. This kind of thing has gone on for ages because people don’t like to see me do well.

“I’ve never handled the fame very well. I haven’t worked this hard just for me to be slaughtered.”

Earlier this year, Danny became caught up in a scandal after a video of him appearing to snort cocaine emerged online.

He was shown in the video obtained by The Sun sitting in front of the substance, which was spread over a glass table.

Danny later made a statement about the video.

He told the publication: “I am not going to try to attempt to defend this video, it is something I am not proud of.

“I take full responsibility for my actions and I would encourage anybody battling their demons to seek professional help.”

He went on to say he’s “always been open” about his past and he hoped he could now “turn a negative into a positive”, by using the incident to get others to seek help.

He added: “I am heart-broken to learn that people I considered to be close friends have betrayed my trust and friendship. As I prepare to go into recovery, I will be re-evaluating my friendships and who I can trust to support me.”

Danny was on The X Factor last year and was mentored by Ayda Field in the over 30s category.
