This Morning fans upset as Rugby World Cup replaces show

Find out when they might be shifted around the TV schedules again

Some This Morning viewers were caught unawares again today as many expressed their surprise on social media that the ITV daytime staple has been bumped for the Rugby World Cup.

Fans of both This Morning and Loose Women were left grumbling last week after the TV schedules were given a shake up to ensure the sporting event – being held in Japan – is aired live on ITV’s main channel.

But it seems many Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield fans did not realise today’s programming would also be shifted about – and expressed their upset, anger and unhappiness at the unexpected change on social media.

“What the…. how long is @thismorning off air for then?? 😡,” spluttered one put out viewer.

“Where the hell is @thismorning??? #mondaymorningruined,” complained another.

Another fumed: “What the hell no @thismorning stupid rugby.”

A fourth person asked: “Why does sport always take priority over everything on ITV?!”

And yet another enquired: “When is it back to normal?”

The answer to that last question is easy to answer – tomorrow. Both This Morning and Loose Women will be back on the box at 11am and 12.30pm respectively on Tuesday 24 September.

But it may not stay that way. Viewers should also be aware that further disruption to their telly-watching routines is likely as the Rugby World Cup does not end until November 2.

Here are the matches scheduled to air on ITV’s main channel that could result in changes to the usual weekday timings of This Morning and Loose Women ahead of the quarter and semi-final stages…

Thursday, September 26 – England vs USA (11.45am on ITV)

Monday, September 30 – Scotland vs Samoa (11.15am on ITV)

Thursday, October 3 – Ireland vs Russia (11.15am on ITV)

Wednesday, October 9 – Scotland vs Russia (8.15am on ITV)

Wednesday, October 9 – Wales vs Fiji (10.45am on ITV)

Other matches are scheduled to air on channels such as ITV4. Several social media users have also questioned why the rugby couldn’t be transferred to that channel, ITV3 or ITV2 rather than the main one.

One person asked: “Why couldn’t the rugby be put on itv4? Come on ITV you know the morning tv watchers.

“Love the fact that the rugby is being screened but not in place of ‘normal’ morning telly.”

Another tweeted: “No this morning again today because of the Rugby World Cup, why can’t ITV put the rugby World Cup on ITV2 or ITV3?”

“Why can’t you put on @thismorning on ITV2,” echoed another person.

And in a similar vein, someone suggested This Morning could do a do-di-do with the rugby, if it must air on ITV.

“I don’t understand why ITV can’t put on @thismorning on @itv2, and @loosewoman,” the tweeted.

Expected to appear on tomorrow’s Loose Women are Strictly Come Dancing stars Michelle Visage and Giovanni Pernice.

– This Morning and Loose Women return to ITV at 11am and 12.30pm respectively tomorrow, Tuesday 24 September
