Vinnie Jones dedicates heartfelt X Factor performance to late wife Tanya

Singer pointed to the heavens during heartfelt song

Footballer-turned-actor Vinnie Jones paid an emotional tribute to his late wife Tanya during his performance on X Factor: Celebrity this weekend.

Singing a medley of hits by Madness, Vinnie looked to the heavens as he sang It Must Be Love.

“I never thought I’d miss you, half as much as I do,” Vinnie sang, while pointing towards the sky.

“We know how much [that song] meant to you and who you were singing it to,” Vinnie’s mentor Nicole Scherzinger said.

His wife Tanya died from cancer earlier this year.

The performance won Vinnie a guaranteed place in next week’s live show, and praise from the viewing public.

Some said the performance brought a tear to their eye, while others said it was clear he was singing the song for his late wife.

However, some said that it was time to “stop the pity votes”.

One viewer said: “It’s time for Vinnie to go – STOP the pity votes now.”

Another commented: “Absolutely ridiculous. This is not The X Factor, this is the dead wife competition.”

Vinnie got viewers emotional during last weekend’s live shows too after revealing that Tanya had wanted him to do the show.
