Viewers outraged as Richard Arnold drops dog on her head live on air

But don't worry, she didn't hurt herself

You’ve got to love a telly gaffe and Good Morning Britain’s celebrity journalist Richard Arnold suffered a pretty bad boo-boo when he dropped his own dog on its head live on air.

Viewers watched as the reporter finished an entertainment news segment with his dog Clemmie sitting on his lap – and then dropped her smack on her head onto the studio floor.

Richard was immediately branded an “idiot” for the whoopsie with host Richard Madeley jokingly calling for the RSPCA to be notified.

But some viewers didn’t find it that funny and vented their upset on Twitter.

Richard was presenting a segment about Louis Walsh’s new Christmas movie which has been filmed for dogs to watch.

Yep, you heard, The X Factor judge has narrated a bizarre film called Merry Woofmas made specifically for pets to enjoy.

The film sees Pyrenean Sheepdog Holly (original) hoping for one present for Christmas: a big, juicy bone. But, despite lots of furry friends showing up to wish Holly a Merry Christmas, there are no guarantees she’ll get what she wished for. Maybe she wasn’t a good enough girl. Just saying.

The movie is made with specific audio and visual stimuli that promises to have your pets howling with delight (we’ll get our coats) and Richard had brought Clemmie along to erm, give it the paws up.

After a clip of the movie was played, Richard perched Clemmie on his lap as he sat on a stool discussing the film with Good Morning Britain hosts Kate, Richard and Susanna.

But as Clemmie went to jump down she misjudged the raised studio floor and smacked her muzzle with a clearly audible bump.

However, before anyone gets their animal rights knickers in a twist, there was absolutely no question over Clemmie’s well-being and she could be seen running off – tail wagging – to sit on the studio sofa.

She then returned to the panel – tail still very much wagging, people – to revel in a bit more of the attention.

So you can watch the clip and have a little LOL safe in the knowledge that no animals were harmed during the clip.
