The cast list of Benidorm reads like a round up of television legends.
Shane Richie, Sherrie Hewson, Hale and Pace, Julie Graham and John Challis all turn up in episodes regularly.
But last night’s episode had Corrie fans excited when a former cobbles legend showed up.
John – aka Graeme Hawley – stalked the cobbles long before Phelan did. He was married to Fiz, and is little Hope’s real dad. But he was a nasty piece of work, killing more than one character and watching another die then hiding his body under the floor at Underworld. The murderer even kidnapped his secret lover Rosie Webster!
But he was a very different character when he turned up at the Solano Hotel in last night’s hilarious episode of Benidorm!
Graeme played a super-fan of washed up entertainer Sammy Valentine, played by another soap legend, Shane Richie.
He arrived as Sammy was having a meeting with entertainment manager Monty – aka Only Fools and Horses star John Challis.
Monty was getting ready to let Sammy go – but the fan’s arrival made Sammy take to the stage to wow a crowd with his rendition of Sweet Caroline.
And suddenly Monty was announcing Sammy Valentine’s comeback tour.
Fans were thrilled to spot Graeme in the show.
“OMG It’s John Stape from Corrie!!” said one fan.
“Someone tell Fiz, John Stape is in Benidorm roaming free,” joked another.
“Never thought I’d see Boycie, Alfie Moon and John Stape all share a scene together. Bravo,” said another thrilled viewer.
It looked like the super-fan was in trouble when he pulled out a replica of Sammy’s ex-partner – a ventriloquist dummy called Manny. Much to Sammy’s shock and fury.
It seems Graeme’s new alter-ego could be the victim this time!
