Frustrated viewers complain as This Morning Live suffers sound difficulties

Phil and Holly persevered despite apparent issues with their mics

Telly fans were fuming today (May 16) after sound issues plagued ITV’s This Morning Live event.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby presented the show with a live audience at the NEC in Birmingham, while Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford held the fort back at the studio in London.

As Phil spoke with TV’s Dr Ranj Singh, who was among the celebrity guests, the sound started to reverberate.

Similarly, Holly chatted to chef John Torode and This Morning regular Alison Hammond but the jarring echo sound worsened, leaving viewers exasperated.

One said on Twitter: “Sound quality is as [bleep] as their guest quality #thismorning.”

Another remarked: “Sack the sound guy, [bleeping] amateur! #thismorning.”

A third viewer tweeted: “The camera man is making me dizzy and I keep thinking I’m going deaf with the mics. #ThisMorning.”

Elsewhere on the show, Eamonn and Ruth spoke with an expert on tinnitus, a condition that leaves people with a ringing or buzzing noise in their ears.

The show proceeded to play examples of what tinnitus might sound like for those who’ve never experienced it.

The guest said he had a way of helping with the condition – but offered eager viewers at home no hint of what that might be.

Taking to Twitter, one angry viewer said: “I was expecting this guy to explain how to actually get rid of tinnitus or at least offer some good tips or advice. This wasn’t helpful. The most helpful tool I use is white noise #thismorning.”

Someone else fumed: “The tinnitus guy literally sounded like he had no idea what he was talking about, avoiding the questions all the time.”

Another wrote: “The ENT specialist… errr… what a waste of time! Keeping his cure under wraps… won’t be visiting his Harley Street clinic anytime soon…”
