Emmerdale’s Natalie J Robb reveals what the future holds for Moira and Matty

It's not the end for the troubled mum and son

Emmerdale’s Natalie J Robb, who plays Moira Dingle, has revealed what’s coming up in the next few weeks for her alter-ego and her son, Matty.

Moira’s been struggling to accept her transgender son, and hasn’t been coping well with her daughter Hannah now living as a man.

But she’s still horrified when she gets a call to say Matty has been brutally attacked, and rushes to hospital to visit.

But though Moira drops everything to be at Matty’s bedside, he makes it quite obvious that he doesn’t want her there.

Stubborn Moira persists and grills Matty, asking him if he got attacked because he’s transgender.

Matty is defensive and tells Moira it was nothing to do with that, but is he being honest with his mum?

Moira tries hard to connect with Matty who’s clearly still hurt from his mum telling him to leave Butlers Farm last time they saw each other.

But Moira believes she can make amends and keeps trying to bond with Matty.

It finally looks like she’s making some headway with him and she heads home, pleased that there seems to be something left of their old relationship.

When she comes back to the hospital to see her son the next day though, she’s shocked when the nurse tells her that he’s discharged himself.

So it’s not looking good for the troubled relationship. But Natalie has revealed it’s not over yet.

Moira leaves, but then goes back to the hospital and Matty has gone,” she shared with TV Times.

“So she drives to Manchester to try to find him. There’s hope. There’s always hope with Moira.”

And she added that Moira will make a big effort to start to build a new relationship with her son.

“It will be like starting from scratch,” she said. “She does say to him, ‘I’m learning, so don’t expect me to get it right all the time. But you’re my baby and I’ll always try’.”

Natalie also revealed that the pair will start to bond, but it won’t always go to plan.

“We filmed a scene recently where Moira and Matty go out together for the first time,” she said. “Moira overhears a conversation and gets the wrong end of the stick, so she makes a fool of herself.”

Sounds like there is more drama to come as Matty and Moira get to know each other again.
