Max Branning calls Mr Popadopolous: Laundrette in Albert Square to reopen

Is it all over for the former queen of the laundrette?

| Updated:

We bet we weren’t the only ones who felt a flicker of excitement when Max Branning phoned Mr Popadopolous to tell him the laundrette in Albert Square could reopen.

At last! We thought things could get back to normal and Dot Branning could get herself back where she belongs.

But it seems someone’s got a different idea – Karen Taylor’s got her eye on a job as the Square’s resident knicker washer and Dot could be out on her ear!

Next week, Karen clocks that the laundrette is reopening under the careful management of Mr Popadopolous Jr – and he’s looking for staff.

Karen’s eager to snaffle the job for herself so she’s not impressed when she discovers she’s got a rival vying for the role of washing the Square’s smalls.

Desperate to impress, Karen manages instead to offend poor Mr Popadopolous before talking him into giving her an interview.

And when Mr P agrees, she ramps up the charm offensive, eager to make him see she’s the right person for the job.

In fact, she’s so confident about her performance that she even tells her kids that the job’s hers for the taking.

So when she finds out there are still interviews taking place – and her rival is favourite to get the job – Karen’s very glum.

But, being the go-getter she is, she doesn’t take things lying down. Instead she declares war on her rival and decides to prove she’s the best woman for the job.

Taken aback by the rivals’ bickering and sniping Mr Popadopolous decides it’s time for him to act – he tells them they can both have a trial for the job.

But who will come out victorious? And just who is Karen’s mysterious rival?!
