The Chase fans staggered by contestant’s resemblance to Mark Labbett

Some people thought they were related!

The Chase viewers are convinced a contestant is related to Mark Labbett after noticing the pair look very similar.

Taxi driver Matt appeared on Tuesday’s show alongside fellow contestants Emily, Alan and Valerie and managed to bag £5,000 in his cash builder round.

But before the quick-fire questions, host Bradley Walsh was quick to joke about Matt’s height, saying: “You actually look much taller in real life than sitting behind that desk.”

Matt replied: “Well, I think it’s the weight that pushes the stool down. I’m about 6 foot 3, 6 foot 4.”

Bradley then walked over and stood next to Matt, who towered over the host.

Bradley joked: “I’m 6 foot 2,” as the audience laughed.

But it wasn’t Matt’s height that had viewers talking, but instead, it was his resemblance to Chaser Mark Labbett – who is known as ‘The Beast’.

Even though he didn’t sport a suit like Mark, Matt had a similar haircut and build to the quiz expert.

Viewers took to Twitter to point out how similar Mark and Matt look.

One person said: “Um, does this first contestant look like he’s related to the beast, or is it just me?”

Another wrote: “Are The Chase just ignoring the fact this guys looks like The Beast?”

A third tweeted: “He looks like a smaller version of The Beast.”

Mark and Matt then came face-to-face for the second round.

The Beast teased: “Better get rid of him quick, bet he’s left the taxi outside on the meter.”

Unfortunately for The Beast, Matt made it through to the final round alongside fellow team player Valerie.

The pair were playing for £6,000, however, they were caught by the Chaser with just 19 seconds remaining.

The Chase continues weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
